GM: Business Risk Management At MTN Ghana

Brief Description

Overall responsibility for the Business Risk Management function in MTN Ghana comprising Internal Audit, Business Continuity, Risk Management and forensics. Develop strategy for the Business Risk Management function in MTN Ghana in line with MTN Group and global best practices.

Detailed Description

Key Tasks:
Planning, designing and implementing an overall risk management process for the organization
Risk assessment, which involves analyzing risks as well as identifying, describing and estimating the risks affecting the business
Risk evaluation, which involves comparing estimated risks with criteria established by the organization such as costs, legal requirements and environmental factors, and evaluating the organization’s previous handling of risks
Establishing and quantifying the organization’s ‘risk appetite’, i.e. the level of risk they are prepared to accept
Risk reporting in an appropriate way for different audiences, for example, to the board of directors so they understand the most significant risks, to business heads to ensure they are aware of risks relevant to their parts of the business and to individuals to understand their accountability for individual risks
Corporate governance involving external risk reporting to stakeholders
Carrying out processes such as making business continuity plans to limit risks and prepare for if things go wrong
Conducting audits of policy and compliance to standards, including liaison with internal and external auditors
Providing support, education and training to staff to build risk awareness within the organization

Provide support in cross-functional process and systems audits and investigations.

Provide leadership in the performance of special audit assignments for the CEO, Audit Committee, and the Board of Directors.
Proactively provide management with the visibility, control and decision support required to understand and manage business risk.
Lead in coordinating risk assessments, identifying the operational and strategic risks, facilitating the prioritization of risks and the identification of risk owners.
Ensure the provision of on-the-job technical training for staff to ensure skills transfer.
Lead in establishing and monitoring performance benchmarks for the Business Risk Management function and ensure the promotion of a high performance culture within team.

Set goals and objectives for the function, monitor progress and maintain motivation for productivity
Promote a culture of candour, accountability, collaboration and get it done with team and among functions
Promote internal customer experience with a focus on internal stakeholders
Manage performance of team.
Identify staff training and development needs and implement necessary actions
Build a succession pool and ensure strategic talent and investment boards are in place
Give relevant input into the recruitment of staff for appointment

Job Requirements

Education:

First Degree in Business
Professional qualification e. g ACCA an advantage
Post Graduate Degree an advantage

Experience:

A minimum of 8 years internal audit end to end practice. 5 years of which must have been in a Senior Managerial role. C Level experience in an operation the size of MTN Ghana an advantage.
