Country Director, South Africa
I. GENERAL INFORMATION:

TechnoServe (www.technoserve.org) helps entrepreneurial men and women in the developing world to build businesses that provide jobs, income and economic opportunity. In 2004, TechnoServe opened an office in South Africa and has since developed a small, but growing presence in the country through the implementation of local economic development programmes. TechnoServe is looking for a visionary leader to be based in our Johannesburg office.

II. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop the strategic vision and execute the country program strategy to create jobs and income for the South African people
Develop, lead and manage the country program on a day-to-day basis, including building the client business portfolio; managing client performance, ensuring quality control and cost-effectiveness; and, developing and managing knowledge
Identify and develop new funding sources and partners, including developing and maintaining TechnoServe in-country donor and partner relationships
Lead the creation of program documents including proposals, new business concept papers, business plans, loan guarantees and marketing materials
Communicate progress, learnings and achievements of the country program
Develop and manage the program’s budget and review / approve all financial information
Manage and develop a team of up to 12 professionals and ensure timely deliverables according to the program’s targets

III. KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE:

MBA or equivalent degree in related field
Strong private sector strategy and management experience, including in several of the following key skills areas: business development, consulting, training, financial analysis, marketing, business and funding proposal writing
Entrepreneurial
South African country experience and networks
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
Excellent oral & written presentation skills
Preferable: agribusiness experience
Successful candidates must have the right to work in South Africa
