OrphanAid Africa is a non-profit, non-governmental organization. Its aim is to support orphans and vulnerable children in Ghana through programs in Care Reform, family support, education and development.
Its goal is to ensure that children grow up in safe and permanent family settings with appropriate care and protection.
Job Description
A part time psychologist preferably a Lady for long and medium term counselling, specializing in the one-on-one counselling of children and young adults suffering from obsessive compulsive disorders and / or depression, sexual and other abuse, abandonment and trauma. Some group counselling may also be required
Number of Hours: Two and Half Days ( 20hrs) per week
Required Skills or Experience
•A degree in psychology
•Has the ability to conduct psychological assessments and create clinical treatment plan
•Practical experience in psychology of minimum 3 years with vulnerable children and or young adults
•Ability to provide psychological support to sexually abused children, persons who abuse alcohol/drugs and children with special needs
•Good command of MS Office package
•Ability to work in rural and urban communities
•knowledge of Twi, Ga/Dangme and/ or Ewe
•Good organizational skills
•Excellent professional writing skills
•Ability to meet with clients in the Eastern Region, Greater Accra and other regions as needed
•Demonstrate good professional boundaries
•Demonstrate a non judgemental and non-bias attitude
•Inclusive of all different ethnic groups, religious beliefs and alternative lifestyles
•Can remain calm under pressure and meet necessary deadlines as needed
•Make appropriate referrals and familiar with local mental health and social services available in Ghana
