About us

Christian Aid (CA) was established in 1945 by the British and Irish churches. Currently, CA works in over 40 countries, with over 550 partners, worldwide. Christian Aid has worked in Ethiopia for more than 30 years, initially responding to emergencies, but gradually establishing a long-term development programme, to facilitate thriving, resilient and equitable communities.

Christian Aid in Ethiopia has four strategic focus areas. These are resilient Livelihoods, Climate Change, Market Development and Humanitarian Response. Christian Aid Ethiopia has also other strategic issues such as strengthening the organisation, communication and campaigns, fundraising and supporter relations which are being dealt with as cross-cutting issues.

About the role

The role is aimed to establish CA physical presence and operational engagement in the West Guji/Gedeo zones. The post holder is responsible for supporting Christian Aid’s portfolio of partnerships and projects within a country with our local partner.    To represent Christian Aid at local level and be responsible for the capacity-building of partners. To help ensure that project resources and planned project activities are undertaken within budget and time frame which enable impact and direct benefit to target communities.  Works with the country /thematic programme management team to support delivery of projects to the highest standards and in line with the country strategy.  To act proactively to engage in any activities that strengthen the country program and takes up additional assignments given from the organisation. To act as the interface between participating partners and Christian Aid and/or donors including receiving feedback, representation in key stakeholders’ meetings and contributing to strengthening of partner relationships at the local level. More specifically, the role will lead on the implementation of CA Appeal emergency projects and ensures that deliverable of the projects are met as per the expectations.  This entails working closely and actively with the implementing partner, Government at Woreda, Zonal and Regional levels, other Government departments, and community organisations. Key components of the role are problem solving, ensure high quality and timely deliverables, monitoring, reporting, communications and provision of technical assistance, risk and security analysis and advice actions appropriately and any other additional assignments given from the organisation.

About you

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic candidate who have a skill/experience on emergency context , partners’ performance management and for developing plans to improve the performance of partner staff, volunteers or others. Moreover, since you may have a project management responsibility for directing work of others and may take a responsibility for ensuring that work quality and professional standards are maintained, the corresponding knowledge and experience for these tasks is highly demanded.
