Reporting to: QA/QC Coordinator
Purpose/Role:
To ensure proper quality management within the ship repair division and the proper management of welding and its related activities.
Prime Responsibilities and Duties:
Ensures the correct welding parameter is used during welding operation
Assist the welding engineer during welder qualification and procedure qualification; maintaining the records (PQR)
Interpretation of working drawings (Approved working drawings and weld maps)
Carryout necessary materials checks and maintain documentation
Carryout of weld Audit
Checking of fit-up preparation and pre-weld inspections in accordance to applicable drawings and specifications.
Reviewing and documenting welder’s qualification test result.
Monitoring of dimensional surveys and review of reports for proper presentation and communication of results and documentation.
Witness NDT Inspection
Ensuring that work process is done according to specification
Monitor fit-up operation in line with relevant drawings and WPS
Carry out Visual Inspection of welds, during and after welding.
Assist in Providing timely corrective actions to identified non-conformances on welding
Liaises with clients site personnel on welding related issues identified on site
Reviewing of Radiographic films and NDT reports and procedures
Monitor weld repairs and ensures that all operations are done in line with the procedures
Report HSE anomalies and ensures that permit to work (PTW) is available prior to job commencement
Other Duties:

Key External Interfaces:
DNV, GL, LR, ABS Other classification society and Client reps.
Job Requirements

Desired Courses:
The Persons:
Have a bachelors degree in engineering/sciences or equivalent and a certified welding inspector certified cswip 3.1 or equivalent (cwi).
good background in non destructive testing; with certification in the basic five methods of either pcn-bindt or asnt (american society for non destructive testing) which includes ultrasonic testing, magnetic particle testing, raiographic testing, penetrant testing, radiographic film intepretation
knowledge/ certification in iso 9001:2008 qms auditor/lead auditor course will be an added advantage
