Christian Aid Vacancy for Finance Officer – EU Syria(London)

Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of dignity, freedom and hope, and of power over their own lives. Christian Aid has a vision – an end to poverty – and we believe that vision can become a reality.

Christian Aid has been working in the Middle East for over 30 years, and working with its partners in Syria to provide life-saving humanitarian relief to the most vulnerable communities, whilst also helping to rebuild Syrian society by investing in young people and providing them with skills and opportunities to rebuild their lives.

About the role

This is a really exciting time to join the team as we scale up our response in Syria, and are now  looking for a highly motivated person to lead on the financial management of an EU funded project with our local partner in Syria, building the resilience of young people across multiple locations.

Working closely with the project coordinator and local partner, the role will involve providing financial management to the project, including remote financial monitoring, transfer of funds, financial risk management, financial reporting, and ensuring that CA and donor compliance is adhered to.

This role is part of Christian Aid’s Syria, Iraq, Lebanon country programme team, within the Middle East team based in London.

About you

We want you to bring your expertise in financial management of institutional funded projects and ability to deal with a wide range of financial procedures and issues, alongside your passion to support people who are in most need. You will be a self-starter with high attention to detail, experience of remote financial monitoring and experience of working through Hawala agents, Money Service Businesses or other non-bank payment methods.
