Job description

Cartographer is involved with the scientific, technological aspects of developing and producing maps and cartographic information. Cartographer will present complex information as diagrams, charts and spreadsheets, as well as in the form of conventional maps. Geographical information systems (GIS) and digital-mapping techniques now dominate the role.
Responsibilities

* Production of Geo referenced maps for all departments in the organization.
* Produce adhoc maps and sketches via illustration Software packages.
* Regular updates of Core asset maps and update of cultural data.
* GIS File format conversions.
* Document, control & distribute all project files via document management system.
* Secondary Duties
* Supply technical advice on large format printing to the IS Service Desk.
* Occasional revision and editing of CAD engineering drawings

Qualifications et experience

* HND / Degree level or equivalent experience
* Ability to use a variety of technical software packages for both GIS mapping & visualisations
* Microstation, Petroview, Just CGM, Just Plot, Freehand/ illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, MS Office.
* Knowledge of map projections.
* Understanding of G&G, Exploration & Exploitation mapping requirements.
* Knowledge of commonly used G&G Applications e.g. Zmap, Petrel, Petroview.
* Significant experience of cartographic work within the oil industry.
* Knowledge of file manipulation, printing and plotting.
* Skills in Graphical and Technical illustration advantageous
* Is a team player and can provide a supporting role to other members of the team, including backup in their absence.
* Is able to plan, schedule and monitor own work within a limited time horizons.
* Has an effective and appropriate level of written and oral communication skills
* Has a systematic and disciplined approach to work.
* Customer focused.
