The total salary package for this position is £48,960 – £53,424 per annum including basic salary, programme management allowance and cost of living allowance.
About MAG:
MAG saves lives and builds futures by working with others to reclaim land contaminated with the debris of conflict, to reduce the daily risk of death or injury for civilians, and to create safe and secure conditions for development. MAG shared the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize as a founding member of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines for our work to ban landmines. About the Nigeria Programme:
MAG began working in Nigeria in 2014, establishing a full time presence in 2015 implementing a nationwide arms management and destruction project in coordination with the national authorities. Since 2017 a humanitarian response/ mine risk education project has been implemented in the North East of the country for the many displaced people, and identifying the location of explosive remnants of war impacting on the population.
About the role:
This role will provide you with the opportunity to use your project and people management skills, leading a diverse team of international and national staff operating across a geographically varied environment. You will have the opportunity to use your skills in business development to network and interact with donor and other stakeholders and be responsible for the delivery of MAG’s work in a complex and challenging context. A key element of the role will be successful liaison with local authorities, embassies, donors, NGOs and UN agencies. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced project or programme manager to challenge themselves, working in a senior leadership role within the organisation. Based in Abuja and reporting to the Regional Programmes Manager, the Country Director will need to work independently, pro-actively and across a broad range of activities as the Senior Manager in country.
About you:
The successful candidate will need excellent programme management skills with experience of overseeing other staff working in programme support and delivery functions, including remote management. To do this, you will need experience of working in a similar context, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Previous experience of effectively delivering in humanitarian response environments would be advantageous but not essential. This is a high-profile position that will require excellent liaison and diplomacy skills. Previous experience of being responsible for a programme in a challenging political, logistical and security environment would also be highly advantageous.
