Our funding support comes from DFID, EU, UNDP, UNIFEM, Comic Relief, and Mc Arthur Foundation, among others, and our work covers Education, Health/HIV/AIDS, Human Security in Conflict and Emergencies, Just and Democratic Governance and Women’s Rights. Deploying a range of participatory tools to promote community participation that ensure sustainability of interventions that are transforming remote rural and excluded urban communities, it supports a project for Partnerships Against Poverty (PAP). In 2006, the country programme directly affected the lives of 173,991 males and 141,106 females in 586 communities in Nigeria. Nigeria currently has 89 staff working in 123 Local Government Areas (LGAs) in 34 states out of the 37 states of the federation. The head office of ActionAid is in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. ActionAid’s initiatives within its Human Security in Conflict programme, including the facilitation of a dialogue and the articulation of a people’s charter, have positioned the organisation as a committed peace builder in the volatile region.
