The African Rice Center (WARDA) is located on the campus of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, Nigeria, seeks a highly qualified Nigerian to fill the position of Administrative Assistant/Research Associate within the framework of its Famine project at the general Support Staff (GSS) level. The successful candidate will be stationed at WARDA’S SUBSTATION in Ibadan and will work under the supervision of WARDA-Nigeria coordinator.

Responsibilities
The candidate will assist the project manager to:
Liaise with the Country Coordinator Units (CCU) of the project in Ghana and Nigeria
Attend meetings of the CCUs in Ghana and Nigeria as directed by the Project Manager.
Collect, manage and analyze project data and reports from the CCU in Ghana and Nigeria;
Draft quality technical reports monthly, quarterly and annually on the Project’s activities in Ghana and Nigeria;
Participate in and facilitate training activities under the Project
Prepare training and extension materials;
Assist in organizing the translation, editing and packaging of videos for training of trainers and farmers;
Carry out other duties assigned by Project manager.
Requirements
Candidates must have;
M.Sc, degree in plant breeding, agronomy, agricultural economics, agricultural extension or equivalent degree plus 3 years research experience;
Field experience in crop production, extension and monitoring & evaluation;
Strong knowledge in experimental design and statistical analysis (SAS, GENSTAT), and familiarity with computer software such as word processing (MS Word), spreadsheet (MS Excel), PowerPoint;
Proficiency in written and spoken English.
Ability to work effectively under pressure in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment;
Good interpersonal and communication skills;
Capacity to work independently and produce reliable results with minimum supervision;
Work experience in Nigeria and ability to communicate with farmers, extension agents would be considered an advantage.
