FRAGILE STATES DESK OFFICER
Save the Children UK currently operates in the following countries in West and Central Africa that fall within
its “list” of fragile states: Liberia, Democratic Republic of Congo and Cote d’Ivoire. Individual countries may be added to or deleted from the list depending on prevailing conditions in the country. Countries typically defined as “fragile states” where Save the Children UK is operating are generally poor and most are on the verge of, experiencing or emerging from conflict. However, they are very context specific, with the form and characterisation of fragility changing from one country to another with implications on operating environment.
You are an experienced officer who likes very challenging jobs, you like being the “go-to-person” on all matters pertaining the identified fragile countries and wants to be the lead person to coordinate support to fragile states, As Desk Officer and based in Dakar your role will be to secure short and long term staff and technical assistance, support proposal development and grant reporting, and ensure compliance with minimum standards.
While you will represent those fragile countries at the regional office level, this is a position that requires your proven management skills, creativity, and resourcefulness. Don’t miss the opportunity to make a difference !
