Our international Oil & Gas offshore client requires a Second Engineer for their offshore projects in Nigeria’s coast.


The 2nd Engineer shall undertake duties as allocated or directed by the Chief Engineer and may be employed in either watch keeping or day work duties as required and has the following responsibilities:

Responsibilities:
Shall understudy the 1st Engineer. Shall have understanding and comply with all relevant sections of the company’s policies and management system. Shall be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all machinery and equipment for which the Engineering Department has responsibility. Shall be responsible for the supervision of the Engineering Department Staff and for the allocation of responsibility with regard to maintenance and operating duties. Shall be aware of class requirements and will be responsible for the preparation of machinery for survey, as directed by the Chief Engineer. Shall be responsible for ensuring that the information, presented in the ER log, maintenance records, water condition logs and other information, as required, is accurate and up to date. Shall complete hand-over notes which encompass a comprehensive coverage of departmental work during his period of engagement on the vessel. Responsible for advising the Chief Engineer of spare gear requirements. Shall ensure that maintenance and repair work, done in the Engineering Department is adequately supervised and carried out in a safe manner in align with companies permit to work and other safety management systems. Shall assist the Chief Engineer with the preparation of the running repair list, supervision of major repairs and dockings. Shall meet and discuss daily with those under his control, planned work schedules, progress and defects/problems encountered. Shall assist the Chief Engineer with management of the Planned Maintenance system. Any other duties assigned by the 1st Engineer.

Skills
Licensed Chief or 1st Assistant Engineer of vessels of unlimited tonnage/horsepower, in accordance with STCW 95; Minimum 5 years experience as a Licensed Engineer onboard DP operated vessel; Experience operating and maintaining Diesel-Electric power plants and DP Class II Power Management Systems; Solid knowledge of SMS and ISPS codes; Knowledge of offshore production processes and applicable Class / USCG rules is preferable, but not required. DP Operators certificate issued by the Nautical Institute, or comply with the requirements of Guidelines for Design and Operation of Dynamically Positioned Vessels DPVOA (IMCA). Comply with the requirements as described in Section 4.5 of the IMCA "Training and Experience of Key DP personnel" document. An adequate knowledge and experience with the relevant class of vessel in accordance with Section 5 of the IMCA document, "The training and experience of key DP personnel."
