Objectives
The successful applicant will be responsible to complete tasks as requested by the relevant electrical foreman to ensure plant availability.
Outputs
•Maintenance and operation of 525V switchgear and associated protection. •Testing, fault finding and commissioning of 525V motors, actuators, heaters, transformers and standby generators. •Maintenance of small transformers, small power distribution systems and lighting circuits. •Condition monitoring of small transformers and large motors. •Perform routine inspections on electrical LV equipment. •Perform electrical tests, earthing, insulation resistance, cathodic protection, etc. •Perform switching operations to isolate and energise circuits on 525V equipment and also on 3.3kV, 6.6kV and 11kV MCC’s. .Provide assistance to the production departments.
Qualifications
•Minimum: N3 with at least 3 years relevant experience in Petrochemical and other industries. •Recognized Trade Test Certificate.
Experience
•Minimum 3 year’s experience in electrical plant maintenance, preferably in the petrochemical industry. •Knowledge and understanding of the operation of LV equipment, i.e. electrical motors, switchgear, electrical actuators, MCC’s. •Routine inspections on electrical equipment, i.e. classified apparatus, motors, lights, distribution boards, cathodic protection. •Fault finding on LV equipment and control circuits thereof. •Computer literate with a knowledge of MS Office. •Experience in PLC’s and Explosion protection apparatus will be advantageous. •A valid code 08 drivers license is a requirement.
Other
•Perform standby responsibilities as per the standby roster. •Overhaul 525V to 11kV motors.
