Salary: £19,625 - £25,559 net salary per annum pro rata the contract length(Net = take home pay. Oxfam will meet the tax and social security liabilities of post-holder in addition to net salary)
Hard to work allowance: £3,000 net pro rata contract length (this is in Chad and Haiti only)
Hours: Full time
Contract Type: Fixed term 6-9 months, unaccompanied position.

We are looking for French speaking Public Health Promoters who are available in April for 6 - 9 months, however in order to assist the recruitment process please submit CVs in English.
Please note this is a rapid recruitment and we are looking for French speakers for either Chad, Mali, Niger or Haiti we will be longlisting positions as they come in. At the moment these positions are not confirmed and are dependent on the outcome of assessments and funding. We are looking to also put more French speakers on the Public Health Promotion Register for future deployments.
This is a Generic Public Health Promoter job profile but a specific one for either Mali, Niger, Chad or Haiti will be confirmed once the assessments have been done and the postions are confirmed.
OXFAM PURPOSE: To work with others to overcome poverty and suffering
TEAM PURPOSE: To provide technical support to Oxfam GB's humanitarian responses in order to meet the urgent public health needs for Oxfam GB's beneficiaries.
JOB PURPOSE: To provide public health promotion support to humanitarian programmes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
¦ As part of a multi disciplinary team, carry out an assessment of the public health needs of the affected population and analyses of threats to their life, health and dignity.
¦Depending on the findings of the assessments, make clear recommendations for health promotion initiatives that are consistent with Oxfam's policies and guidelines. These should take into account the cultural, political and geographical constraints peculiar to affected areas.
¦Working closely in particular with engineering colleagues design, implement and monitor the health promotion component of Oxfam's water and sanitation interventions ensuring that, regardless of the time frame, the community is involved in all decisions.
¦Map out public health interventions supported by other INGOS, UN bodies and religious groups and identify ways in which Oxfam could work together with these organisations.
¦Identify potential local partners and assess their capacity both in terms of resources and management, including their capacity to implement the safe and effective delivery and distribution of relief items without coercion. Give support as required.
¦Through joint cooperation with logistics, ensure that all hygiene kits are distributed fairly to beneficiaries and, where possible, carry out post distribution monitoring to assess the effectiveness of the system.
¦Ensure that an empowering approach to working with communities is used and that hygiene promotion implementation takes into account cultural issues. This will be based on the principle of entitlements, with promotional work involving awareness of beneficiary rights regarding aid.
¦Take into account at all times Oxfam's gender policy and ensure that representatives of all sectors of the community are consulted and involved in programme planning and delivery.
¦If appropriate, be responsible for recruiting, training and managing small teams of local staff and volunteers. This may involve planning work schedules, field based mentoring and supervision and carrying out performance appraisals.
¦Ensure that interventions strive to conform to Sphere standards and adhere to Oxfam guidelines and protocols.
¦Represent Oxfam when appropriate at coordination meetings with the national authorities, UN bodies and international and national NGOs.
¦Present regular written reports on progress against objectives as required by the programme manager and ensure that a final report is completed on completion of the contract.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
¦A degree or equivalent in public health or social sciences related discipline. Extensive community experience may substitute for formal qualification (but qualification will not substitute for experience).
¦The post holder should substantial practical experience in appropriate community based public health programmes. Some of this time should have been spent in recent emergency relief programmes.
¦In addition to the above, knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas is essential: hygiene promotion, community development, or health education.
¦Skills in assessment, analysis and planning.
¦Training, mentoring and counterpart development skills.
¦Commitment to humanitarian principles and action and to Oxfam's Equal Opportunity and Gender policies. Demonstrated experience of integrating gender and diversity issues into public health programmes.
¦Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to use standard computer software packages.
¦Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team. Diplomacy, tact and negotiation skills are essential.
¦Personnel management skills.
¦Working level written and spoken English and fluency in French is Essential.
¦Experience of working under pressure and in response to changing need is desirable.

Job Position: Administrative Assistant
Salary: £18,000
Based: Oxford
Job Purpose
To provide effective business support in the areas of communications, logistics, facilities, and resource and information management to the Oxfam International Secretariat.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and contribute to the development of office communications through the following:
• Act as first point of contact for callers, visitors and enquiries
•Circulate relevant information and update notice boards and general events calendar
•Contribute to the newsletter; co-ordinate contributions to the newsletter for the operations team
•Assist with the implementation of communication tools and their use in all locations, including user training
•Ensure that the facilities and office management area in the dashboard is kept up to date
Maintain and contribute to the development of travel within the OIS through the following:
• Provide advise on travel including, travel requirements to particular countries, such as visa, immunizations, etc., and where required, organize travel arrangements for Oxford staff
•Handle the contractual relationship with the authorized travel agency, ensuring value for money and timely delivery of service
•Proactively research best deals on airfare and accommodation
•Book overseas accommodation, as required for those travelling from the Oxford office
•Collate information on the Secretariat’s travel carbon footprint
Assist in management of the office premises and use of office space, including health and safety, through the following:
•Act as first point of reference for office upkeep and equipment repairs
•Conduct workstation safety assessment for all new staff in Oxford and resolve any issues arising from them e.g. provision of appropriate work equipment to ensure compliance with legislation
•Conduct monthly risk assessment and resolve issues arising from them
•Conduct annual fire risk assessments and ensure fire safety agreements are met throughout the year
•Ensure building safety including control of access
•Handle office contents insurance including processing of claims
Provide administrative and logistics support as follows:
•Provide logistical support to medium to large size meetings, led by OIS, in Oxford including accommodation bookings, setting up equipment, producing welcome information packs and assisting with any social bookings
•Manage stationery orders, including printing requirements, printer and copier consumables and other office supplies
•Organize team building and social activities for the Oxford office
•Act as first point of reference for equipment repairs, ensuring that maintenance issues are dealt with promptly, including computer troubleshooting
•Ensure routine maintenance of office equipment
•Liaise effectively with providers of goods and services
•Provide information to assist with budget preparation
•Assist in development and maintenance of information systems and records storage, including web-based information
•Maintain and update Lotus Notes directories and contact database
•Administer Oxfam International list serves including distributions lists in the external address book
•Develop and implement archiving system
•Manage the library
•Manage specific projects aimed at developing and improving the quality of services for OIS
•Carry out other reasonable duties as may be assigned by the Facilities Manager that is consistent with the nature of the job and its level of responsibility.
