Basic Purpose:
Overall responsibility for the development of the annual budget, quarterly reforecasts and the 5 year business plans process in Zain Kenya, in close collaboration with senior management and in line with Zain Group guidelines and timelines.
Overall Responsibility for tracking, reporting and understanding of variances in actual performance vs. expectations and proposing remedial measures.
Overall Responsibility for tracking key performance drivers of the business.
Guides the decision support process to ensure that the Commercial, Capital Expenditure and Operating decisions take due considerations of financial and business implications. Ensures sufficient accountability for business cases from various functions.
Overall Responsibility for management accounting functions - including, where needed, project tracking, budgetary control and costing
Usually operates with minimal supervision and occasional review of completed work
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Business Planning
Take overall responsibility in the preparation of realistic, solid and achievable business plans in collaboration with management, in order to contribute to optimal definition of long term business objectives.
Define, implement and maintain budgeting and business planning guidelines, tools and best practices, in order to contribute to the effectiveness of strategic planning processes
2. Budgeting
Take overall responsibility for the preparation of realistic, solid and achievable budgets in collaboration with management, in order to contribute to optimal allocation of financial resources to the different business units and activities.
3. Forecasting
Take overall responsibility for the preparation of quarterly forecasts based on actual results from the past, in order to better align financial projections with changing realities and changes in strategy and focus.
PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT:-
4. Variance Analysis and Reporting
Analyse strategic business issues, objectives set in budgets and forecasts, as well as variances between actual and budgeted data, in order to contribute to the continuous improvement of the quality of budgets and the budgeting process and tools.
Continuously update management with risks to delivering the business plan. Quantify such risks and assist in developing and quantifying gap closure plans to cover for the potential risks / weakness
5. Performance Analysis and Reporting
Set-up mechanisms for analysis of actual performance broken down into the drivers of the performance.
Benchmark performance against Competition and other relevant international performance benchmarks
Set-up mechanisms for Pre & Post launch analysis and reviews
Provide IT and Accounting with specification detailing information requirements in order to better analyse and report on the performance of the business.
6. Decision Support
Set-up mechanisms to provide financial and business checks for Commercial, CAPEX & Operational decisions.
Competencies & Qualifications:
Qualifications
•Degree in Finance or Accounting
•CPA (K) or ACCA (finalist)
•7 years work relevant experience with at least 2-5 Years of leadership experience
•Proven ability to analyse complex business issues and identify, design and implement effective practical recommendations thus requiring exceptional Analytical and Numeric Skills
•Excellent technical knowledge of budgeting, financial statements and financial analysis processes
•Able to handle, prioritize, multiple projects simultaneously
•Able to work with managers throughout company in analyzing financial situations
•Microsoft Office skills: - PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Excellent Excel skills,- linked spreadsheets, creating "what if" models, creating financial models in Excel e.t.c
