The Position
ILRI seeks to recruit a
Barman/Waiter within the Housing, Catering and Conferencing unit
whose job purpose is to provide food and beverage services to ILRI staff and other guests.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the bar is adequately stocked at all times;
- Ensure that there are no expired items are in the bar stock;
- Perform and monitor the movement of stock at the bar;
- Collect cash for items served and deposit with the cashier daily;
- Promote beverage sales;
- Ensure proper storage and care of operating equipment;
- Ensure prompt service and clearance at the bar counter and bar surrounding area;
- Ensure a comprehensive handover is performed with all in-coming shift staff;
- Ensure general cleanliness in the bar area at all times.
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Food and Beverage services;
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant experience;
- Good computer skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook;
- Good written and oral communication skills.
Terms of appointment
This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position based at ILRI’s Nairobi campus and is open to Kenyan nationals only. The position is on a 2-year renewable contract subject to satisfactory performance and availability of funding.
Job level and salary
This position is job Grade 1B, Level 2 with a starting gross salary of KES 34,000 per month. This is exclusive of other benefits provided within ILRI’s Nationally Recruited Staff Scheme.
