Role Summary/Purpose
Senior Marketing Manager in Africa will focus on Market / Channel Development through development of OEMs, EPC contractors, and strategic alliances which directly support the GE Aero Energy growth initiatives in Africa
Essential Responsibilities
Initial focus will be on execution on the Growth Playbook Strategy with respect to our channel partners and optimization of existing and potentially new EPC relationships.Works with Product Line Leaders to assess current OEM relationships and set strategy required to restructure for regional growth.
Works with the Africa regional Sales team to create the overall pole go to market strategy. This position manages and supports all EPC development, addressing critical OEM technical support issues as well as driving channel development across all regions of the African continent and near neighbor countries
The Senior Marketing Manager demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and company marketing objectives in Africa. In this role you will integrate and develop processes that meet business needs across the organization, be involved in long-term planning, manage complex issues within functional area of expertise, and contribute to the overall business strategy.
- Works with Sales and Global Marketing and engine Program Management to define customer value proposition for Africa, with specification of key buying criteria, and specific product features
- Leads strategy for OEM development of products/services as best fit to Africa regional marketplace
- Leads evaluation and selection of EPC contractors
- Seeks out and creates strategic alliances and / or partnerships to establish footprint and mitigate risk of entry on continent
- Manages all technology transfer, technical training, and development across partners
- Creates IP protection strategy
- Drives competitive bidding and cost reduction processes through OEMs, EPCs
- Negotiates all alliance contracts and T&C’s
- Evaluates and manages EPC, OEM, Partner capacity to support growth
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or collegeAt least 5 additional years product marketing experience
At least 5 years in oversight role managing EPC contractors, OEM contract negotiations, and structuring JV / Partnership alliances
Willingness and ability to travel 50% of the time
Desired Characteristics
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred, MBA also desirable
Ability to work with cross-functional teams to help build effective processes
Strong oral and written communication skills
Six Sigma training is preferred
Strong business analysis, problem solving, and strategy development skills
Ability to interact at all levels of the organization and with other GE businesses
