Job Title: DISTRIBUTED CONTROL SYSTEM (DCS) – CONTROL SUPPORT SPECIALIST

Job Description: Provide Control Systems Technical Support to Operations

- Monitors, maintains, and administers change management on Yokogawa CS3000 System health and process operation. Performs tasks such as controller tuning, graphic modifications, PCN hardware maintenance.

- Monitors, maintains, and administers change management on Yokogawa ProSafe SIS system.

- Monitors, maintains and administers change management on various Plant PLCs and compressor anti-surge control systems

- Performs maintenance and back-ups of DCS, SIS and PLC software

- Supports Process Simulator hardware and software

- Develops and supports the Process Control System reliability processes

- Supports Alarm Management processes used by the facility

- Provides process control system small project support

Teamwork

- Meets with appropriate Operations, Maintenance and Technical personnel during pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up to ensure Plant construction and process operation meets the strategic needs for the safety, production and environment requirements of the facility

- Meets with appropriate Operations, Maintenance and Technical personnel after start-up has completed to ensure Plant process operation meets the strategic needs for the safety, production and environment requirements of the facility

- Serves as a liaison between Chevron and Sasol Process and Control Technology groups and EGTL console operators to ensure the most current process control technology is being implemented;

- Develops industry contacts for purposes of Best Practices.

- Ensures applicable Process Safety Management functions meet regulatory requirements and plant needs.

Technical Development

- This is an entry level position for an employee seeking a career in the DCS-Control Systems field. The Control Support Technical Specialist position is a developmental position which will allow inexperienced degreed engineers to gain knowledge and experience necessary to advance into the Control-DCS Engineer role. Alternatively, this developmental position will allow experienced technicians (10+ years) to advance into the Control Support Technical Consultant role. The relationship between the Control Support Technical Specialist and other members of the EGTL Process & Control Engineering Technical Team will be that of an apprentice. The Specialist will work to gain experience while obtaining valuable mentoring and technology transfer.

Safety and Compliance

- Promotes safety awareness and safe behaviors within the Process & Control Engineering work group through participation in programs like ICare

- Completes all required safety and compliance training

- Ensures control system changes are performed in accordance to approved Change Management procedures and other Plant Instructions. Assists with any necessary operations training involved with the changes made.

- Within sphere of influence, reviews Plant work processes for compliance with Corporate and Government policies and regulations. Provides recommendations to Plant Management on gap areas.

- Serve as a positive role model with respect to safety, protecting the environment, positive behaviors and the Chevron Way

Required Qualifications: Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree or Higher National Diploma in Engineering or applicable disciplines. Candidates must have a minimum of Second Class Lower division for Bachelors degree and Upper credit for Diploma certificates

Required Skills: Excellent technical and analytical skills;

Good oral and written communication skills;

Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills;

Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Software
